Real hipsters don't play video games. More importantly, hipster knock-offs don't even play F2P MMOs because they're owned and run by corporations out only to make a profit. If anything, your suggestion: is more of a "hipster" choice because it was developed independently of any corporate funding.

How does choosing to play one video game over another make one better? Do you sincerely believe that spending time enjoying something you like is time wasted because others don't find the same thing as enjoyable as you do? Do you also assume that everyone who plays Call of Duty has the mindset you described? Also note that a multi-player game like Call of Duty has much greater replayability value than VVVVVV, which is why it's much easier to spend "all [one's] day" playing Call of Duty over VVVVVV.
